Trulli Renovation in Putignano - Contrada due Lamie

<< torna ai lavori svolti

This small group of trulli in the countryside surrounding Putignano is composed by 6 cones and it is located in the tallest point of a field that ends is a valley. It was originally a rural house used for tending wheat fields. Evidence of this purpose remains in the large threshing floor where wheat was separated from the chaff with the help of the winds that swept through the elevated position.

The natural slopes of the land were preserved by creating stone terraces at different levels, connected by steps that lead from the level of the five main cones down to the lowest level of the external cone. On the lowest terrace, there is a gazebo covered with reeds, creating an outdoor dining area with a small kitchen.

Traditional choices were made for the finishes: there are stone floors, the walls are plastered or left with exposed stone, as for the surfaces of the cones. There are wooden fixtures with shutters. We went for cement tile-effect finishes and darkened brass fittings in the bathrooms. There are two bathrooms, one inside and one outside in the lower cone.

The trulli have retained their authenticity without disrupting their original relationship with the surrounding land.
